Hiring a hostess for your charter in summer 2022
No cooking, no cleaning, no stress - this is why you want to have a hostess on the boat while sailing along the Adriatic in summer 2022. We've answered the most frequently asked questions about the process of hiring a hostess.
1. What does a hostess do on the boat?
The hostess will keep all areas clean and tidy – the cockpit, saloon, galley, and all cabins. She will prepare 2 meals per day (either breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner). A hostess will try to do her best to make your journey comfortable and easygoing. In the morning the hostess is in charge of preparing and serving breakfast. After that, she has to clean the complete interior space while you and your company enjoy the sun or take a swim. Having a hostess also makes things easy when it comes to groceries shopping; it is also one of her duties. She is continuously communicating with guests and she's there to answer any of your questions or help you with any problems. Considering that hostess is a local girl and knows first-hand information, she can give you good advice about places you're about to visit, local traditions, restaurants or events to make your charter holidays more enjoyable for you.
2. What does the hostess cook?
The hostess prepares 2 meals per day (either breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner). Those are some simple and light meals. She serves the meals and cleans everything after eating. In case the hostess serves 3 meals per day for you, don't forget that that isn't expected of her and that she is doing everything in her power so that you have the best sailing experience and it would be nice of you to reward her at the end of your charter :)
3. Can we choose our hostess?
The answer to this questions is yes! You can send us your preferences ( non-smoker, can prepare vegetarian meals, good with children, German speaking, knows good tips, fast, easygoing...) and we will give our best to find someone like that - even though we cannot promise for sure that for example a German speaking hostess will be available in the requested period. Nevertheless we will do our best to fulfil your wishes!
4. Can the hostess babysit?
Babysitting is not one of her duties, but feel free to ask her. It is really important to have a good communication with your hostess and/or skipper. We are sure both of you will get to a mutual agreement.
5. How much does it cost to hire a hostess?
The price of hiring depends, but it is usually between 130Eur and 200Eur per day. If you decide to book your hostess with Noa Yachting for summer 2022 the price will be 150Eur per day and you are obligated to provide food for the hostess as well.
6. Where does the hostess and/or the skipper sleep?
If crew accommodation is not planned in the layout of the boat, then it is custom to leave one cabin for the hostess. Sometimes crew members sleep in the saloon but this is not something we advise; the crew need time to rest so they can give you their best. It is important to mention, the hostess and the skipper cannot share the same bed - but some skippers and hostess are couples and don't mind doing this.
7. What does the hostess eat?
The hostess is eating with you and she eats everything you eat, but sometimes the clients want their privacy. In case you want your privacy you can talk with your hostess and provide her with approx. 30 Eur per meal in summer 2022 so that she can have a proper meal on her own and so that you can have your privacy. As mentioned the most important thing is the communication and kindness. You can talk to your hostess about this topic and come to a mutual conclusion.
8. What are your obligations towards the hostess?
You are obligated to provide food and accommodation, but kindness and good communication is also recommended.
9.Does the hostess speak German, French, Russian, Spanish or Italian?
All of our hostesses speak Croatian and English. If one of your preferences is that the hostess speaks German, Italian, French, Russian, Spanish or any other, then we will do our best to find a hostess that speaks some of those languages. But please have in mind that hostesses that speak other languages get booked easily and to get your hostess you will need to book your boat on time. 10. Do we need to tip?
Tipping is not obligatory, but it is recommended. If the provided service was good, then feel free to tip your hostess. The recommended tip and industry standard is 10 – 20% of the charter price.
