Explore Korčula island - hidden beauty of the Adriatic

Home to ancient sites, stunning coastline, local wineries and (supposedly) the birthplace of Marco Polo, it’s easy to understand why so many tourists choose to sail to Korčula in summer 2022. and decide to "get lost in these little streets". 

Korčula is considered as the pearl of the southern Dalmatia and offers to its visitors picturesque old town of Korcula, magnificent coastal panoramas, dreamlike fishing villages and idyllic coves. Away from the tourist-places on the coast of the island Korčula, in the island's interior one discovers a unique green landscape with panoramic views and hidden cultural treasure, which one can discover either on foot or by bicycle. The coast of the island of Korčula is very indented with a large number of bays and coves. Its north shore is rather low and easily accessible with several natural harbours sheltered from the southern (jugo) and easterly winds: Korčula, Banja, Racisce, Vrbovica, Babina, Prigradica.  There are many anchorages and bays sheltered from the northern but open to the southern winds: Zavalatica, Rasohatica, Orlanduša, Pavja luka, Pupnatska luka, Prizba, Gršćica, Brna etc.

Generally there are many events on the island in Vela Luka and Korčula town around the summer months – peak season – when there are more people around to enjoy all the festivities. Each main town is likely to have some kind of “summer evenings” mini-festival, with assorted events – art exhibitions, folklore evenings, singing, dancing, music, fishermen’s evenings – taking place from about mid-June to September. 

One of the main events to look out for are performances of the famous Moreška dance. These normally take place twice a week in the town during summer – check locally for more details.
