Jelsa offers safe mooring during south and west winds, and it is also protected during “bura” (north winds).
It is also a quiet place in middle of high season. So although there is very small waterfront with moorings (on the bigger part of the waterfront there are no moorings, just on the right side there are approximately 8-15 moorings), it is surprisingly calm during late afternoon. There are bays and capes adequate for swimming. Enjoy gravel beaches surrounded by pine forest, which offer you the necessary refreshment and shade during the summer heat.
Jelsa is very nice for having dinner there, it has few restaurants. One very cosy restaurant with great salads is right on the waterfront- very convenient for lazy holidays- without going too far away from your boat.
Also there is nice lounge bar just on the waterfront. There are few shops, kiosks, various souvenir shops, ice cream shops, and all tourist kind of shops for one who are shop-o-holics (like part of our crew was).
Also there is ATM machine, and bank next to the moorings.
We recommend Jelsa for staying overnight, but if you are looking for a nice beach, you should consider coming bit later and anchoring before coming to Jelsa for quick swimming stop.
It is also good point if you would like to meet part of your crew, since European Coastal airlines planes are flying from Kastela / Split to Jelsa.
